The 1% Wilder Project is Little Green Bird’s flagship mission: to rewild 1% of Aotearoa by restoring land, one sanctuary at a time.

Since human arrival, over 70% of New Zealand’s native forest has been cleared. At Little Green Bird, we’re working to change that—by buying land, replanting it with native species, and creating predator-proof sanctuaries where birds can safely nest, feed, and thrive.

Every donation made to the 1% Wilder Project goes directly towards securing and restoring land for long-term protection. It’s about giving back what’s been lost—one percent at a time.

Once we reach our initial goal of $500,000, we’ll be actively seeking pieces of land that align with our rewilding and predator-proofing vision. Your support brings us one step closer to making our first sanctuary a reality.
